This year, senior students from both Mt Alvernia and Padua Colleges have had the opportunity to meet and discuss books in a cross-campus book club.  The discussions at these meetings were designed around themes such as crime and relationships.  Each college took turns at hosting these Friday afternoon meetings and lively discussions around the books were enjoyed by the students.

The club’s activities culminated in a visit to Avid Reader bookstore at West End.  Students had to opportunity to purchase afternoon tea and listen to Fiona Stager, owner of Avid Reader, speak about newly released books and titles that have been popular among the Young Adult readers who frequent the store.

Following this, students were given the opportunity to purchase books for the colleges’ collections. It was a wonderful afternoon and a very fitting way to wrap up the book club for the year.
